This article is about the beta release. For the final release, see Progressbar 95.
“ | Progressbar Chitown is a 'spiritual predecessor' of Progressbar 95, its early edition. The system recreates gameplay features of the very first public version of Progressbar 95 [ver. 0.21]. It has only one game mode and a limited number of popups and segments. There are no any utilities to help you. So the gameplay is a little bit harder, that is a great way to challenge your skills! | ” |
— Welcome message
|
Progressbar Chitown (Chitown sometimes stylized in all caps) is the sixth version and the earliest beta version of Progressbar in the Progress Computer lineup. It is based on Microsoft Chicago, the project which later became Windows 95. Despite this system coming before Progressbar Nepbar, it can be unlocked after gaining 3500000 points after unlocking Progressbar Whisper.
This release of Progressbar revises the gameplay of 0.21, which is the first public release of Progressbar95.

Trivia[]
- Progressbar Chitown includes a calendar, an electricity popup, achievements, wallpapers, ProgressDOS, custom cursors and Clippies with shields, despite them not existing in 0.21.
- The setup screen is similar to Progressbar 3.14 and NOT 3.60, although Microsoft Chicago builds use a prototype of the Windows 95 setup.
- Progressbar Chitown resembles Windows Chicago builds 58s through 73g, as the window and taskbar designs in those builds resembles that in Chitown.
- This is the first system to not have startup and shutdown sounds made through a music sequencing program, but rather BeepBox through a recording.
- Progressbar NOT 4.0 sounds, Progressbar 11 sounds, the BarOS BSOD sound and the unused Error2 sound were also produced through BeepBox.
- The instrument used is "celesta".
- Although Progressbar Chitown did not exist in-game as early as 0.5605, the earliest leak possible was in the icon of the "Beta collector" achievement, as according to here.
- This OS is one of the two OSes to not have a gamemode selection screen, with the other being Bar System 1.
- This is because game modes didn't exist in 0.21.
- This is the only Progressbar system that it is not possible to silence the HDD noise, since that option is disabled. All BarOS systems running on a hard drive (except SSD drives) also have this.
- This is the only Progressbar beta system to not have Media Player, Browser and Mailbox.
- Despite this system using a current game progress style, it uses the old game progress style, but the bonus screen didn't change to the old one from pre-0.98.
- This was the second operating system to use a Welcome! window. The first was Progressbar 95, and third was Progressbar 95 plus.
