There are many different types of pop-ups (or obstacles) that can appear. Usually, most pop-ups impede the player by blocking movement and vision, but not all do.
Annoying pop-up[]
An "Annoying pop-up" is basically "annoying" but it can be closed. It will prevent the player from moving into it. It can be closed by clicking "Close" or the "X" button on the top right. Sometimes, the "Close" button is disabled, making it hard to close the pop-up using it. Instead, the "X" button in the title bar will be the only way to close it. This appears in all systems.
In Progressstein3d[]
Annoying pop-ups appear in Progressstein3d in the form of barriers. They can be destroyed by shooting them.

Bonus driver[]
When you destroy a pop-up with the Decompiler Gun, there is a chance that it will drop a bonus driver, which can contain the following:
- Increase the fire rate of the Decompiler Gun
- Increase the damage of the Decompiler Gun
- Bonus points
- Bonus Progress Data
- Data protection
Bricks[]
The Brick pop-up blocks the horizontal place. You can destroy these Bricks by using your progress bar or with the Decompiler Gun.
Calculator[]
The "Calculator" pop-up will require the player to solve a simple two-digit addition or subtraction problem. If it is answered correctly, the pop-up is closed and Calculator will return the message: "Correct!". If it is answered incorrectly, it will give the player new arithmetic problems until the player answers it correctly and returns the message: "Wrong calculations!". However, if you shoot it with the Decompiler Gun, the Calculator says "Math protects me!" and will take damage slower than other pop-ups. This pop-up appears in Progressbar 98 onwards and all server systems.
In Progresstein 3d[]
Different than other pop-ups in Progresstein3d, this pop-up appears when the player gets 90% in the progress bar. It has 6 hit points, moves fast and shoots 2 bullets at once. If it's screen displays "0+0", then it will return "-0-" and disappear.

Checkbox[]
The "Checkbox" pop-up look like annoying pop-ups but they have checkboxes. This pop-up appears in the Progressbar game mode on Progressbar 2, 3.14, 95 and onward (excluding Progressbar Chitown), all server systems, H@ckgresh, BAR/X and B OS.
- The first variation has these variations: "Don't close" and "Allow closing", and has only one checkbox. If it's checked correctly, the popups will close. If it's incorrectly checked, the popups doesn't close and will be invulnerable to Decompiler Gun.
- The second variation has these variations: "Uncheck checkboxes" and "Check checkboxes", and has more than 1 checkbox. If all of the checkboxes are unchecked/checked, the close button is enabled.

Clippy[]
Main article: Clippy
Clippy is based on Microsoft Office Assistant, a digital assistant infamous for being intrusive that first appeared in Microsoft Office 97, then disabled by default in Microsoft Office XP and later completely removed in Microsoft Office 2007. He can appear in:
- Classic game modes, where it's like Annoying pop-up but moving,
- Progresstein3d, as the most often appearing pop-up,
- Progress Defender, as the only pop-up,
- Progressball, where if the ball touches it then it will spin and give points proportion to the speed it is spinning.
CPU fan[]
The CPU fan is a special pop-up that was added to the game in version 0.7650. It blows away segments, the progressbar, and other pop-ups. This pop-up can appear in groups.
This pop-up appears from Progressbar 95 plus onward and all server systems [verify].
Sometimes, CPU fans may have LED colors and may work faster, but if you try and shoot it with the Decompiler Gun, the LED colors will fade out quickly every shoot.
If the player presses the CPU fan, the CPU fan will say: "Don't put fingers in the fan!", and if it is pressed more then the pop-up will disappear.

Decompiler Gun Options[]
Since version 0.9065, this pop-up always appears at the beginning of a level. It lets you change the mode the Decompiler Gun should use and any extra options to use for the Decompiler Gun. It appears on Progressbar 1 onwards and all server systems.
This pop-up prevents other pop-ups from spawning while it is active. Closing this pop-up will also summon a Clippy pop-up in the 1st form.
Dog[]
Main article: Dog
Dog is a friendly pop-up that can give you bonus points. He can:
- slide on the taskbar in normal game modes asking you to get points,
- appear in Progresstein3d as obstacles, but shooting them will cause a Blue Screen of Death to appear,
- appear in Progressball as a bonus pin at the top of the board,
- appear in Browser, and giving one a cookie awards bonus points.
Electricity[]
The "Electricity" pop-up closely resembles the "Annoying pop-up", but when the progressbar touches it, it triggers an effect where the progressbar abruptly jumps to the opposite side of the screen from where it was touched. This appears only in the Progressbar game mode.

Touching the pop-up:
Empty Pop-up[]
An empty pop-up can appear in arrays ranging from 1x1 to 4x4. These pop-ups are very small and feature a Warning icon in their title bar. If not closed using the "X" button in the title bar, they severely restrict the progressbar's movement. This appears in Progressbar 98 onward, Progressbar 2000 Server onward, H@ckgresh, BAR/X and B OS[verify]. It is possible for the progress bar to become stuck between two of these.

Lasers[]
1 to 3 lasers appear on each horizontal side of the screen. A countdown of 10 seconds occurs before the lasers activate and cause a BSOD when touched; the Decompiler Gun's bullets also get absorbed by the laser beams. Vertical lasers have existed before, but now they've been removed, most likely because the game would be much harder if they existed.
Mad Buttons[]
The Mad Buttons pop-up has multiple close buttons and there is only one right close button. It can have 2, 4 or 6 close buttons. If you tap the correct button this pop-up will close. If you tap the incorrect button, a text saying "Oops!" in the position of the button you pressed will appear.
Mine[]
A "Mine" pop-up is similar to the "Annoying pop-up" but explosive. For the first few seconds after this pop-up appears, it will blink - during this time, it cannot give you a Blue Screen of Death. However, if it touches the progressbar after it stops blinking, a red shine with text saying "BYTE!" appears, signifying an explosive effect. This is followed by the mine pop-up exploding into red segments. Shortly afterwards, the Blue Screen of Death appears, resulting in the player losing a life or level. This appears only in the Progressbar game mode. If you enable the "Reduce blinking" option in the Accessibility menu in Settings, this pop-up and the dynamite Clippy pop-up will blink more slowly.
In Progressstein3d[]
Mines are dangerous pop-ups in Progresstein3d. Touching a mine will result into a BSOD. The player can shoot the mines, destroying them.

OK has failed[]
The OK has failed pop-up is a distracting pop-up which only appears at the start of the Progressbar game mode. This pop-up is an error box which contains either the text "Task failed happily" or "Unexpected error". When pressing the OK button, the text will change into "OK has failed" and the OK button will disappear. The only way to get rid of this pop-up is to shoot it with the Decompiler Gun or to press the close button in its titlebar. If you try to shoot this pop-up with the Decompiler Gun, the text becomes shorter and shorter[verify].
Running.dll[]
Running.dll is a pop-up that was added to the game in version 0.7240. It moves all over the place and bounces when it hits the progressbar, and it also leads a trail. This popup appears in Progressbar 2 to Progressbar Wista (excluding Progressbar Chitown), Progressbar NOT 4.0 Server to Server 2005, H@ckgresh, BAR/X and B OS [verify]. When shot by a Decompiler Gun bullet, its titlebar will read "StillRunning.dll" and there will be a progressbar tracking its health.

System32[]
If the user deletes a system directory, a System32 pop-up will appear in the beginning of the next level the user plays, replacing the Decompiler Gun options pop-up.
"I am the System 32. You may call me Sys32. I am completely operational
You've killed me recently. That is okay. I have a very good memory(RAM)!"
This pop-up prevents the System32 boss from spawning while it is active, and it also forces the player to use the starter Decompiler Gun.
System32 (boss)[]
System32 also appears as a boss in levels that end in 5 or 9 (levels 5, 9, 15, 19, 25, 29, and so on). System32 will deploy 4 gray and 4 pink segments every few seconds. Sometimes System32 will appear with the Protective panel which requires a player to disable the 4 checkboxes on the corner. After deactivating System32's boss protection, the bubble message will appear and it will say: "System File Shield (SFS) has been turned off". After defeating System32, the 2 text files will appear with the name "SYS" and "TEM", although the notepad description is the same as Trash.txt, and it will appear the error message and it will say:
"You defeat me! But I have a backup! See you soon! Have a nice day!"

Video driver error[]
The Video driver error pop-up is a medium-sized popup with the title "Warning!", and a message: "Video driver error!". Parts of the screen become colored negative, which can make the game more difficult because it is possible to confuse segments (blue/yellow, cyan/red, green/pink). After a some time, another pop-up will appear, saying "The problem fixed itself", and the screen will return to normal.
This pop-up appears in Progressbar Meme onward.
WORM[]
The WORM is a pop-up that was added to the game in version 1.0225. It moves around the screen, and consists of several blocks that move with it. It is fast and dangerous. It also may eat your progress. This popup appears in Progressbar XB to 81.

Trivia[]
- In the Google Play Store, the screenshot of Progressbar95 game has a different name for the Annoying pop-up and Calculator. The Annoying pop-up is named "Stupid pop-up", and the Calculator is named "Stupid calculator".
- In a few screenshots, Annoying pop-up was accidentally called "Stupid calculator".
- The WORM pop-up may sometimes have red cubes. These probably give you a Blue Screen of Death.[verify]
