The Media Player is a Progressbar and a BarOS program that plays music. It resembles:
- Winamp (Progressbar 95 after S Blast to Progressbar Nepbar after S Blast)
- Windows Media Player (Progressbar 95 before S Blast, Progressbar Whisper to Progressbar 81)
- Groove Music (Progressbar 10 to Progressbar 11.22)
- iTunes (BarOS 9 to BarOS 10.III, BAR/X and H@ckgresh)
- Apple Music (BarOS 11 to BarOS 13)
The application itself is named differently in different systems.
- In Progressbar 1 and 2, it is called PB Speaker (referring to the PC speaker).
- In all Progressbar systems starting from Progressbar 1 (except Progressbar Chitown and Largehorn[1]) and all server systems, it is called Media Player (judging by the text of the Media Player shortcut).
- In Progressbar 95 to 2000, NOT 4.0 Server and 2000 Server, it is called Progamp (based on Winamp).
- In BarOS 9 and onwards, BAR/X and H@ckgresh, it is called PB Jams (based on SoundJam MP, which was renamed to iTunes in 2001).
- In BarOS 11 and onwards, it is called PB Music (based on Apple Music, judging by the titlebar of the Media Player in aforementioned systems).
- In Progressbar Nepbar, it is called Music (on the foreground menu).
New versions of the songs are unlocked by playing a special game mode in which all of the segments collected must be blue. This game mode has different names in different releases of Progressbar.
- In Progressbar 95 to 98 and NOT 4.0 Server, it is called ProgressBarster (a parody of Napster).
- In Progressbar Meme to Nepbar and 2000 Server, it is called ProgressBarella (a parody of Gnutella).
- In Progressbar Whisper to Wista, Server 2002 and Server 2005, it is called ProgressBaZaA (a parody of KaZaA).
- In Progressbar 7, 81, Server 2007 and Server 2081 it is called PBTunes (a parody of iTunes).
- In Progressbar 10 onwards and Server 2011 onwards it is called PBStream.

Trivia[]
- Despite the song having a .midi file extension in Progressbar 1 to NOT 3.60, it is actually an .mp3 file.
- Some versions of the theme song are actually encoded differently compared to their estimate in the game.
- The high quality version of the theme song is actually encoded in 89kbps, instead of 128kbps.
- The low quality version of the theme song is actually encoded in 87kbps, instead of 96kbps.
- The song with the highest bit rate is the theme played in Progressbar 1 and 2 at 92kbps.
- In Progressbar Wista to 81 and Server 2005 to Server 2081, the icon is based on the Windows Media Player 11 and 12 icon.
- In Progressbar 1 to NOT 3.60, the icon is an audio tape.
- Media Player doesn't exist in PB-DOS Shell, Progressbar Chitown and in BarOS until BarOS 9, although Progressbar Chitown has unused icons for Media Player.
- The Media Players in BarOS 11 and onwards also include a cover art of the music theme.
- Since the "Carol of the Bells" theme got added to the game, when you press the track in BarOS 11 and onwards' Media Player it changes the cover art.
- The icon of PB Jams in BarOS 9 is a Cathorse wearing headphones (a reference to the SoundJam MP icon).
- In Progressbar 10 onwards and Server 2011 onwards, the Media Player is based on the dark theme of Microsoft Media Player (formerly Groove Music), the default music player in Microsoft Windows systems since Windows 10.
- Interestingly, Progressbar Chitown is the only Progressbar system (besides PB-DOS Shell) to not have Media Player. This is because the Media Player did not exist in 0.21.
- ↑ Progressbar Largehorn does not have a name for Media Player, probably because the Sidebar was implemented before Progressbar Wista had it.
